How often should I water indoor plants?
Short answer
There is no fixed schedule that works for every plant. Check the soil once a week and water only the plants whose top two inches are dry. Most common houseplants end up wanting water every one to three weeks, less in winter.
A schedule fails because pot size, soil, light and season all change how fast soil dries. In a hot, dry home a terracotta pot can dry in four days in July and take three weeks in January.
